There is no given timescale for the carrying out of inspections by SEMA, as all operations differ. As such, the requirement should be assessed by you given the knowledge of your own operation and a decision taken on the frequency of audits in light of that assessment. It may be possible for your own personnel to undertake weekly or monthly inspections once they have been suitably trained. We are in a position to offer training in assessing rack damage.
The courses that we offer are carried out to SEMA guidelines and by an SARI (SEMA Approved Rack Inspector) with over 33 years’ experience. The course comprises of a 1 day classroom based session, that would be held at King’s Lynn premises . The classroom element of the course covers the Inspection Guidelines along with product information and photographs of damaged components and rack collapses. A complete copy of the course presentation will be given to each trainee. Following this session, the trainees would then be taken to the warehouse to view a damaged rack and to answer any questions. Finally, a written test is completed where the pass mark is 80%. Each trainee would be issued with a certificate following satisfactory completion of a written test at the completion of the course, with the certificate being valid for 36 months. At the end of this time, we recommend to resit and take a refresher course.
As with anything that is in constant use, you need to ensure that it’s in tip top condition and working within all current health and safety regulations, which means regularly checking and replacing anything that doesn’t meet the standard.
When it comes to warehouse management, it is always better to be safe than sorry, so making sure that you schedule in regular visual inspections as well as annual rack inspections will save you time and money in the long run.
You can view and book available courses below. Both APR & Cantilever.
Should delegates attend the course and successfully show an understanding of the creatia then a certificate will be issued. This will then deem the delegates capable of identifying damage to pallet racking systems as per SEMA guidelines, for a period of 36 months, where a refresher course is then recommended.
Anyone who is looking to gain advice and guidance on basic rack design and rack inspections all within SEMA guidelines. This can be Person Reasonable for Rack Safety (PRRS) H&S candidates, warehouse staff & Fork truck drivers.
A SEMA Approved Rack Inspector (SARI) who has many years experience within the Industry will oversee and guide you through the course.
